The Town of Fogo Island and Fogo Island Fire Services are very pleased to confirm that GlobalMedic, in partnership with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, have donated a Fire Skid Unit to our Fire Services. Thirty-Two Fire Departments across the Province were awarded these Units to assist with fire fighting efforts. The Skid Unit consists of a 1,000-liter tank that is mounted on a welded skid, equipped with a pump and hose. This unit costs approximately $4,000.00 and because they can go into a pick-up truck or trailer, they can get into wooded areas a lot more easily than a large fire truck. A great addition to Fogo Island Fire Services and our ability to protect our communities. Two members of Station 3, Scotty Hart and Tyler Newman travelled to St. John’s and accepted the unit on behalf of Fogo Island Fire Services.
