The Importance of a House Number All properties within the Town of Fogo Island’s boundaries shall(must) have numbers attached to the main building easily identifying the civic address of that property. In an emergency, time is critical for Fire, Police and Ambulance. Help them help you when time matters most! There is safety in numbers! Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

FIRE BAN REMAINS IN EFFECT Fire Index Rating: Very High Propane BBQ’s and propane fire pits are permitted. The fire risk is serious. Forest vegetation is very dry and fires will start easily, burn vigorously, and challenge fire suppression efforts. Burning Permits are suspended, open fires including campfires are prohibited and industrial activities may be restricted. Fire Ban Lifted – Please Remain Cautious Due to the precipitation over the weekend the fire ban is no longer in effect. As the forecast is calling for nicer weather, we urge all residents to exercise extra caution when having open fires. FIRE BAN IN EFFECT The Town of Fogo Island and Fogo Island Fire Services has issued a fire ban for all of Fogo Island effective immediately. Fire Ban in Effect - May 30, 2025 while fire index remains high. Effective immediately, a fire ban is in effect for Fogo Island, due to a high forest fire index. Open fires, Fireworks, Backyard fire pits Propane BBQ and propane fire pits are allowed. Forest vegetation is very dry and fires will start easily, burn vigorously, and challenge fire suppression efforts.
