Fire Ban in Effect, Aug 6th, 2025

A province-wide fire ban is now in effect across Newfoundland and Labrador, including here on Fogo Island, due to wildfire risk. The ban will remain in place until at least September 7, at which time it will be reassessed by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.   Not permitted: - Open fires and campfires (including backyard fire pits) - Fireworks and sparklers - Charcoal BBQs - All burning permits (e.g., grass or brush burning)   Permitted (with restrictions): - Propane BBQs and propane fire pits if the units are not used within 3.5 metres of any trees, brush or other flammable material.
